Acupuncture has been employed for over 3000 years! Acupuncture has been utilized by many cultures worldwide. Acupuncture works by inserting tiny, sterilized needles into specific points on the body to regulate neurotransmitters, decrease inflammation, release endorphins, and increase blood flow. With minimal side effects, acupuncture can be incorporated into any treatment plan. Acupuncture is also recommended and supported by the National Institute of Health and the CDC.
At your first appointment, Kaley Decker, licensed acupuncturist, will do a comprehensive health history and physical exam. Kaley will explain what to expect and you will be able to ask any questions or concerns before your treatment. This will take around 20-30 minutes. During the treatment, pain free needles are inserted into specific points on the body determined by each patients' issues and concerns. The needles will stay in for 25-35 minutes. Most patients feel very relaxed and fall asleep during the session. Our recommendation is to start with 3-5 treatments spaced 1-2x weekly. You should start seeing a change with symptoms within the first 3-5 treatments.
